Our founders got to know Molly during dog walks along the river, where she had spent years tied up alone and fed bread — inadequate food for a donkey, who also needs the company of other donkeys. She was covered in fly-bite wounds. After weeks of visits, Molly began to recognise them and bray at the sight of their car. Her owner eventually agreed to hand her over. An attempted adoption placement caused her a lot of stress, so they decided to keep her permanently and give her the stability she needed. She was very overweight — the vet ruled out pregnancy — so now she exercises and eats a healthy diet. They then found her a companion: Donk.
